Shipping policy

This hand-carved bone and bamboo mahjong set uses bone for the face and bamboo for the back. Each of the 144 tiles is two materials in one: a polished ox-bone face, a bamboo back, locked together by a mortise-and-tenon joint — a set built to be handled for thousands of games needs no glue. Pick a tile up and the difference is immediate: cooler, heavier, quieter in the hand than anything molded.

Every symbol is cut by hand, and every edge is softened file by file. Bone takes tone its own way, so grain and shade shift slightly from tile to tile: the material speaking, not a flaw.

What is included in the set?

One set contains 144 bamboo-and-ox-bone tiles, an illustrated rulebook and a presentation case. Each tile measures approximately 35 × 25 × 15.5 mm; handmade measurements may vary slightly.

Will my set look exactly like the photograph?

Bone and bamboo are natural materials, so grain, tone and figure vary slightly from tile to tile and set to set. That variation is the mark of the real thing.

How should I care for my bamboo-and-bone set?

Wipe with a dry cloth only. Keep away from direct sun and damp — stable indoor humidity is best. Never sand or polish the tiles: the mellow sheen is the patina of age, and once sanded it cannot be restored. Do not soak; if needed, wipe lightly with a barely damp cloth and dry at once.
